Versatile defender Ioan Evans signs for Druids

Our January transfer announcements continue as we welcome highly rated defender Ioan Evans to The Rock.

Ioan began his football with Pontardawe Town before joining Swansea City’s academy as a youngster. He progressed up the ranks and was offered a scholarship at Newport County at 16. More recently he returned to Pontardawe and has been a standout performer there, earning his move up to the Cymru Premier League.

Ioan has impressed the squad and coaching staff in training, mainly operating at left back, he is confident on the ball and strong in the tackle. A versatile player, Ioan can also operate further up the pitch as a winger and in midfield. His main role at the moment will be to fill the void left by our mainstay left back Stef Edwards, who has departed this January to Colwyn Bay.

“Stef has been a model professional for his entire time at the club. He has our upmost respect for moving on to play with an outstanding manager such as Steve Evans. We would like to wish him all the best for the future and he will always be welcome at Druids.” Said Chairman Des Williams.

An important role for Ioan coming into the team, but he has quickly fit in well with the squad and his versatility will surely be a huge boost for us in the coming games.

“I can’t wait to get playing to show what I can do and to enjoy my football for the remainder of the season,” he said.

Ioan will be hoping to be available for our match against TNS tomorrow night and we would like to welcome him to the club.

Keep an eye on our social media as there were a few more signings completed before deadline day which will be announced this week!

More than just a football club.
