Match Report: Guilsfield FC vs Cefn Druids

A great victory for Druids on the weekend away at Guilsfield. Bouncing back from our cup defeat midweek, we got an important 1-0 league win, courtesy of Josh Roseberry-Beamond.

There was a welcome return to the team for Phil Mooney and Ross Weaver, both coming back from injury. EDS graduate, Emmanuel Lawal also earned a start after impressing in midweek’s cup game.

Druids started the match on the front foot, Weaver testing the Guilsfield keeper early from range while Jaden Timmis and Lawal were looking a threat down the wings. It was also great to have Phil Mooney back in the side who was keeping us organised and solid at the back. The Guilsfield backline were keeping us at bay for the time being, however we got the breakthrough just after the half hour mark. Josh Roseberry-Beamond slotting in an excellent finish from a very tight angle to give us the 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half began, and the challenges began to fly in as both teams were desperate for the next goal. Jaden Timmis was cut down a number of times as Guilsfield applied the pressure onto our back four. They went close twice at around the 80th minute mark, but captain Michael Jones pulled off some fine saves to keep us in it. It was getting very feisty towards the end and Jaden Timmis was shown a straight red card, forcing us to finish the game a man down. However, we held on and stayed organised to earn a much needed 3 points!

The win moves us up to 10th only on goal difference as we are now equal on points with 6th place Prestatyn Town. A tough battle for the lads but they were well up for it for the entire 90 minutes which was great to see. We are back in action on Saturday as we welcome Llanidloes Town to The Rock.

We keep going!
