Match Report: Druids vs Llanidloes Town FC

Back-to-back wins for Druids in the league as we earned an excellent 3-2 victory over Llanidloes Town yesterday.
It was a welcome return to The Rock yesterday afternoon with renewed confidence for the lads after last week’s 1-0 win at Guilsfield FC. We were looking to continue our fine form, and got off to a great start in the 9th minute when Nick Grogan fired a fierce low strike into the bottom corner to put us 1-0 up!
Druids were looking good in the first half, working hard for each other and attacking with real intent. Emmanuel Lawal, Josh Lock and Callum Stephens were looking threatening for Druids, getting shots off and testing the Llanidloes keeper. We got out reward just after the half hour mark when Stephens took on his man in the box and was brought down, winning a penalty. Josh Roseberry-Beamond stepped up and made no mistake, slotting it into the bottom right corner. 2-0 Druids!
We went into the break with the lead but still with work to do to earn the 3 points.
The second half began and Llanidloes clearly had the right team talk as they really pressed the Druids defence, looking to get back into the game. On 55 minutes, they nicked the ball in midfield and played through striker Jamie Breeze who found the back of the net to make it 2-1. Nervy times for Druids as our opponents had their tails up and continued pressing forward for an equaliser. Then on 70 minutes, our backline were trying to shield the ball out of play but an opposition forward snuck in before it went out, crossed it into the box and after a brief scramble, Andrew Evans was there to tap it in to make it 2-2.
Frustration for Druids who were in control of the game for large periods but had allowed Llanidloes to get back into it. However, we didn’t drop our tempo and the lads dug in, making the perfect response! Roseberry-Beamond again with the goal, he cut inside and struck a beautiful finish into the corner, leaving the keeper stranded.
Phil Mooney and Michael Jones kept us organised at the back as we saw out the remaining 15 minutes for an excellent 3-2 win at The Rock. The win helps us keep pace with the top teams. We are now equal 4th on points with Porthmadog, only behind on goal difference.
An excellent overall display from the lads who showed character to get the win after Llanidloes got back into the game in the second half. Neil Ashton will be happy with his side’s performance and will be looking to keep the positivity going into next weekend.
We are in action next weekend away at Glantraeth FC in the second round of the Welsh Cup.
Come on you Druids!
