Match Report: Conwy Borough vs Druids

An eventful game and a share of the spoils at Y Morfa Stadium yesterday. Druids went 1-0 up but a man down in the first half with Conwy equalising 15 minutes before fulltime.
It was a quick turnaround for the lads after Friday night’s match against Holywell Town. We travelled to Conwy Borough on Bank Holiday Monday hoping to get a positive reaction after Friday’s loss.
Our youthful Druids side started the game really well and began creating chances for striker Adam Stephens up front. Just unable to convert so far. We looked on top until the 25th minute when Stephens lunged in on a Conwy player and the referee showed a straight red card. A big blow for Druids going down to 10 men so early in the match. However, minutes later we were 1-0 up! An error by the opposition keeper in the box meant the ball fell kindly to our EDS graduate Eric Durnell. He stayed composed and found the back of the net to give us the lead. A great moment for Eric and the team!
It looked like we were going to go into the break 2-0 up after Jaden Timmis scored a brilliant 25 yard header. However unfortunately the referee called it back for a questionable offside. Looked to be very close. We went into halftime 1-0 up but Conwy looking to capitalise on their extra man in the second period.
It remained a tight game towards the end. Druids were working hard to stay in it and still managed to play some nice football. However, on 75 minutes the home side got their reward when John Littlemore converted to make it 1-1.
It ended all square at Y Morfa. A positive reaction from Druids and a solid result considering we had 10 men for the majority of the match. Also, a big congrats to Eric Durnell for his first goal for Druids.
No match this weekend for the squad. We are back in action next Tuesday night for another big test when we welcome Colwyn Bay to The Rock.
More than just a football club.
