Another tough defeat at The Rock last night as Druids didn’t turn up for large parts of the game and were put to the sword by The Robins. It ended 5-0 Newtown.
More rotation from last week’s defeat at The Nomads. Agy and Ben Wynne starting on the wings with George Harry and Harry Farnsworth coming into midfield. We were looking for a reaction from the Connah’s Quay game, but it only took 4 minutes for our opponents to take the lead. A free kick floated into the box was flicked on by Shane Sutton into the path of forward Aaron Williams who swivelled and shot under Ryan Neild in goal to take the lead.
Fortunately, the game did settle after this, however Druids were struggling to maintain solid spells of possession or create opportunities up front. Not much to report until about the 30th minute. Nick Rushton struck from the edge of the area and 6 minutes later, Aaron Williams tapped in his second to make it 3-0 Newtown going into halftime.
The second half began with a mountain to climb for Druids. There was an improvement in our possession but not much threat going forward. Newtown eventually rubbed salt in the wounds with goals in the 75th and 84th minute to finish the match 5-0.
Capitulation for Druids last night and one to forget and move on from quickly. Fortunately, we have the chance to do just that as we face Flint Town at The Rock on Tuesday night.
Time for a reaction.
More than just a football club.
