Tomorrow afternoon, Druids make the long journey south to play Haverfordwest County AFC and will look to continue their positive start to Phase 2.
It is looking to be a tough fixture for Druids as The Bluebirds are in a good run of form, currently unbeaten in their last three. They grabbed an impressive 1-0 away win at Barry Town last weekend and will be looking for another positive result when we visit Bridge Meadow Stadium tomorrow.
We last played our opponents only two weeks ago in the final fixture of Phase 1. It ended a 2-0 win for Haverfordwest at The Rock that day and Druids will be looking to rectify that result tomorrow.
Druids played arguably one of the games of the season last Friday night. A thrilling 3-3 draw with Aberystwyth Town. It was an agonising end for Druids as we were 3-1 up with 5 minutes to go. But two last gasp goals from Aber snatched them a point moments before fulltime. If we do find ourselves up in the match tomorrow, game management and maturity will be important for the lads to ensure they hold out for a positive result.
Despite the heartbreak last Friday, it was mostly a brilliant display from Druids who controlled Aber for large parts of the game and scored some excellent counter attacking goals. It was also great to see some chemistry building between the players as many new faces have joined the squad in January. The lads are gelling well on the pitch, which led to a solid performance. We will want to carry on that togetherness and ruthlessness in front of goal when we make the journey to South Wales tomorrow.
It is looking to be an exciting fixture between two teams who know each other very well. Another chance for Druids to continue their positive start to Phase 2 and go one better tomorrow! The lads have prepared well, worked hard in training this week and will be up for the challenge.
Come on you Druids!
