Head of Academy Recruitment U16 – U21

We’ve got an exciting opportunity to join the Academy as the Head of Academy Recruitment U19 – U21. We are looking to recruit a driven, well organised individual to be a part of a forward-thinking team who will be responsible for implementing and managing, the recruitment process through our various recruitment drives and to recommend players, suitable for the Academy across the Youth, Elite and professional phases of the player pathway (U16 to U21).

What will you be doing?

• Provide oversight, direction and leadership for all recruitment activities U16 – U21 using our BTEC, Blended Learning degrees, Talent ID clinics and schools coaching.

• Drive and facilitate decision making for grassroots and elite players that reside within 1hr 30mins of the Academy

• Play a leading role in the club’s pursuit of elite local players. This includes making decisions on which players to pursue, strategising about the best approach and engaging with clubs about player availability.

• Discuss and present target players with elite potential to key stakeholders on a regular basis.

• Collating appropriate information to support the Academy recruitment process at the club. This will include subjective and objective data.

• Working with the Head of Coaching and Lead Coaches to facilitate recruitment at the Professional Development Phase.

• Contribute to the decision-making process when signing, retaining, and releasing players through the Academy Management Team

• Working with the Academy staff to develop and maintain a retention strategy for all our young players

• Continue to develop relationships with elite and grassroots clubs in the North Wales & North West region.

• Maintain an expert knowledge of current Cefn Druids FC players for squad planning purposes

• Ensure all scouts work within the rules and uphold club values.

• Participate and contribute to the Academy Recruitment Management Team at regular meetings and help shape the department culture

• Any other activities required and agreed by the Chairman.

• Abide by the FAW & Cefn Druids FC Safeguarding rules and regulations working with young children.

Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team, be enthusiastic, hardworking, and be flexible to the requirements of the position and the business. Applicants should ideally live local to Wrexham or Chester or the surrounding areas and be UK/EU residents or non-residents with a valid UK work permit.

To be successful you will hold an FAW B Licence (Candidates do not qualify) and have completed the FAW Safeguarding children’s course. You’ll be able to demonstrate where you have significantly contributed to an Academy recruitment strategy at a Category 1, 2 or Cat A or B Academy.

You will be able to demonstrate experience in using excel, word and database management and be able to show experience of using video to support the recommendation of a player.

This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week on a flexible 5 from 7 days basis including evenings and weekends. Your main base will be our Academy, located in Wrexham or our admin base in Chester. This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
