Our U19s traveled to Bala Town on the weekend and put on another positive display, getting the deserved victory.
It was a competitive match against a much improved Bala side. The first half, Druids dominated possession and were able to build into the final 3rd on numerous occasions. The first goal was well worked by the team. The shot by Joise Fernandes should have been saved by the keeper, but flew past into the top corner. Following the goal, Druids were able to play through and around our opponents, creating a number of chances. The second goal came from a corner, Joise Fernandes managing to win the header with the keeper fouling him in the area. First team midfielder Harry Farnsworth, who played for some extra minutes and fitness, converted from the spot.
In the second half, Druids couldn’t get into their passing rhythm straight away. Bala came more into the match and were able to capitalise on a mistake by the defence in possession. Following the goal Druids regained control of the match, creating a number of opportunities. The 3rd goal came on 81 mins from more slick build up play, Farnsworth finishing off the move for his second of the match.
Overall it was an entertaining affair. Again very pleasing to see the lads carry out the game plan they had worked on in training. All credit to the players as they put in the effort and were able to problem solve during the match. There is a lot to work on but the group are showing great desire to learn and adapt.
More than just a football club.
