Druids v Connah’s Quay Match Preview
Our opening fixture of the 2021/22 season has finally arrived! A great test for our new squad as we face last season’s champions Connah’s Quay Nomads at The Rock!
Our opponents have completed a busy preseason, representing the league in the Champions League and Europa League qualifiers as well as signing a few new players to bolster their squad for the coming season. They recently played last Friday night at home against Llandudno in the Nathaniel MG Cup, ending in a comfortable 2-0 win.
An interesting talking point on our opponents is the recent departure of their talisman Michael Wilde, who went on to sign for Flint Town this season. A large part of the Nomad’s success over the years, Wildy was known for his aerial presence and goal scoring ability and will surely be missed at Deeside. However, the Nomads have gone on to sign an experienced striker with spells in the Football League in Byron Harrison to fill that void. Harrison will be hoping to be available tomorrow night pending international clearance.
Druids have also enjoyed a busy preseason, with a bunch a recent signings being announced in the past week, the lads will need to come together quickly if they are to get a result tomorrow night. Fortunately, it is looking like registrations and international clearances have come through for a few of the new additions and we aim to field a more senior squad for the match tomorrow. The lads have been working hard in training this week and will be prepared for a big test tomorrow night.
It is shaping up to be a great evening for the club as we finally open our doors for fans at The Rock and we can’t wait to welcome you all to cheer on the lads!
