Druids U10s Match Report

Druids U-10’s played their first friendly of the preseason away at Llandudno. A virtually new team this season has been assembled and this was led by captain for the day Dominic. Llandudno are a well established team who from the outset were very physical with a number of robust challenges!! All players worked really hard during match 1 as we found ourselves pinned in our own half for most of the game. The score finished 3-0 to Llandudno with each of their goals very scrappy as Druids didn’t allow them many clear chances at goal. Special mentions must go to Kai and Deacon who were amazing as the last line of defence to support Finn in goal. Match 2 and the tide turned as Druids started to make significant inroads into the opposition half and we started to challenge their keeper more. Our first goal of the season was the best scored on the day with a screamer from 30 yards out by our forward and Captain Dominic. Harry, Liam and Preston worked well to control the midfield and transition the play well for long periods of time. The match finished 2-1 to the home team. Match 3 was a real battle as both teams tried to find a winning goal. Druids forced an own goal and the home team were lucky to equalise. The introduction of Oscar near the end of the match provided a different threat for the home team with some nice touches and interplay with his new team mates. The match finished 1-1. Man of the match was awarded by our head of Academy and went to Deacon for his outstanding work around the pitch throughout all the matches. A thank you must also go to our travelling fans who were very vocal with their encouragement of each and everyone of our players. Well done to everyone. You gave your all for your club and team mates. I am one happy coach. Next game is Saturday when we are away to Flint Town.
