As the season finally gets closer to starting, the Druids squad is starting to take shape and the future is looking bright for a few young rising stars.
Young goalkeeper, Ben Edwards is now in his third season with the club and has been in outstanding for the U19s team. Throughout his period at the club, Ben has continually impressed coaches and management with his development and maturity.
Head of Goalkeepers, Clive Davies said “I have now coached Ben for just over a year and within that year I have seen Ben step his game up immensely by improving key fundamental elements, which have put him in this fantastic position today. He has improved his game not only from a technical perspective, but from improving understanding of how he can become effective through his own game management and affecting others through his team organisation. Ben is a conscientious and resilient goalkeeper with bags of ability. He pushes himself extremely hard”.
“I am happy that Caretaker manager and Head of Coaching Jayson Starkey and Chairman Des Williams have put trust in Ben and this is a statement of intent, backing their new philosophy which is to believe in the youth of their academy. Ben breaking through into the first team is accolade for the club and all the coaching staff as its achieving the goal we set out to achieve. It’s fantastic to see our first keeper to make it through the academy system, onto his first full time contract and for that I am proud of him. I have no doubt that Ben will be an asset to the club and an inspiration to the academy” added Davies.
