Druids Foundation Phase Opening Matchday Report

Sunday 22nd November turned out a great day for the club as the Druids Foundation Phase played their first fixtures of the season, in a Covid safe environment, against Caernarfon Town FC at Treborth 3G. It was not an easy return to football for Druids as our opposition fielded very strong teams in all age categories, who showed from the off, they were there to compete and give 100%.

The highlight of the day came with our U8s representing the club for the very first time in brilliant fashion. The lads can be proud of their effort and enthusiasm, creating plenty of chances and players getting their very first Druids goals. Special congratulations must go out to Alfie Lynch and Jac Davies on being named player of the match for their respective teams. Amazing determination was shown by all, doing the Druids badge proud!

Our U9s battled well in a very competitive fixture. It was great to see the lads implement the style of football they had been practicing during training, showing some great team play and a never give up attitude. Harry Bygrave made his debut in goal and pulled off some fantastic saves to keep his side in the game and was nominated for player of the match. Well done Harry and the team!

The U10s acquitted themselves excellently in their fixture, showing great communication and teamwork amongst themselves. It was clearly needed as their opposition fielded a very strong team, but Druids dug in and certainly held their own. A special mention to Archie Darlington and Lucas Braisdell for their standout performances and a great overall effort from everyone involved.

Finally, the U11s produced a very entertaining game with a number of debutants stepping up for Druids all giving great performances and their very best efforts. There were some great pieces of skill and chances created by both sides creating an engaging affair for all watching. Evan Roberts was nominated for player of the match after a great performance and the whole team can be proud of their efforts.

We’d like to thank Caernarfon Town FC for their hospitality and what was a very well organised, safe morning of football. Druids are happy to know every player got optimal playing time and we look forward to the upcoming fixtures ahead.
