Druids Appoint Peter McCabe as Director of International Recruitment

Peter McCabe has today been appointed Director of International Player Recruitment at Druids.

Druid’s desire to lead the way in player development has seen the appointment of a highly respected FA football agent in Peter McCabe, who joins the club as part of the overhaul of our football operations.

McCabe will join the Board of Directors and provide expertise and background on players, and will now lead the club’s overall football recruitment operations for players outside of Wales, including player identification, acquisitions, sales, and retention, as well as taking primary responsibility for developing strong working links across Spain and further abroad.

“I’m delighted to welcome Peter onboard. He has shown a level of professionalism that will lead the club forward in player development and he has very strong links with clubs across Europe that fit our playing philosophy. His strong knowledge of the football apprenticeship process will be instrumental in helping expand our player pathway to the first team,” said Druids Chairman Des Williams.

“When we spoke to Neil Ashton about the managers role, he was clear that he wanted a higher quality within our playing squad, and we share that desire and with Peter joining us, we are now able to cast our recruitment net far wider than ever before,” added Williams.

Ensuring the club becomes an industry leader in providing a clear pathway from the foundation age groups to the first-team squad is another key responsibility contained within his remit.

Giving his reaction to the appointment, McCabe said: “I’m delighted to join the team and very much looking forward to working with the chairman, club and staff and pushing our professional player pathway further forward.”

This appointment is another big positive step and signals the clubs intent to bounce back to where we want to be, in the top tier of Welsh football. It will also improve our process of building and retaining playing talent at all age groups, and help to move players on that have the talent and ability to play at a higher level.

We are thrilled to have Peter on board and would like to wish him a big welcome to Druids.

More than just a football club.
