Druids Announce New Coaching Structure

Druids are happy to announce a number of exciting changes to our coaching structure and personnel to boost our academy and first team for the coming seasons.

The announcement that the Druids Academy gained an FAW Academy Licence has meant that there have also been significant changes in the coaching set up in the academy and first team. These UEFA/FAW enforced changes not only affect Cefn Druids FC but the whole of Welsh football and we are happy with the decisions and direction the club is going.

Neil Ashton has been brought in to steady the ship. An experienced professional, Ashton has been given the reins to rebuild his coaching and playing team.

Andy Turner’s departure sees a void at the helm of the academy but one that also sees a shift in the role and how it’s conducted. Jordan Hadaway takes the reins as Head of Elite Phase as well as overseeing the EDS and U19s sides. Darren Moss becomes the Head of Youth Phase and brings with him a wealth of experience of player development. Neil Holmes joins the club as Head of Foundation Phase and is one of the foremost specialists in player performance in the UK.

Each age group has a new coach, which the club hopes will bring stability and improve the player development cycles.

Behind the scenes, there has been a dramatic change in roles and responsibilities. The new role of Academy Sports Scientist will be of huge help to our academy players as they develop towards first team football. An announcement on who will take on the new role will be made imminently.

Performance analysis is a major part of the new academy, and we are about to make an announcement regarding the new Director of Player Performance in the coming days.

Scouting and player recruitment has been an issue for many years and this role has been filled with the appointment of Peter McCabe. Using Peter’s experience, players are being brought in from a variety of leagues in England, Wales and other countries to improve our playing squads.

It’s been a hectic and fraught off season behind the scenes and we’re now on a solid footing and looking forward to supporting the academy and first team for an exciting season ahead!

More than just a football club.
