Chairmans Report – December

I’d like to say Merry Christmas to you all and thank you for your support over the past year.

Julie Gildersleve has, once again, been the rock that the club sits on. Going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure players can play at weekends and the first team is complying with the regulations. Thank you doesn’t seem to convey my gratitude but it’s all I can say.

Tony, Ali, Levi, Tom, Angela, Amanda, Chaplain and all the stewards you are deeply appreciated and have nothing but my love. To the academy coaches, assistant coaches, and team helpers, thank you for all your help and support. I think we have an amazing coaching team now and we can only go forward now thanks to you.

Thanks also to Richard and Joe for their marketing input and the great work they do behind the scenes. Thank you to Marley and Mia for their work also.

Another round of thanks goes to Director of Recruitment, Peter McCabe who has breathed new life into the recruitment process for the academy. Director of Player Performance, Neil Holmes has brought in a new way of thinking and taken the fitness standards needed to a whole new level. Matthew Harris has joined us in the new role of Technical Director, he has been a revelation in the short time he’s been in post.

I’d like to say thank you to those that have left the club over the past year. Things may not have worked out between us but you have my best wishes for the future.

Finally, I’d like to say thank you to Neil Ashton. It’s been a laugh, so far, and you make me smile most days. “I don’t wanna speak to you more than once a week” you said and yet we chat most days. You’re meant to be the fiery and angry one and yet you’re the one that is cool, calm and collected most days. We understand each other and have formed a great relationship, as we knew we would, and that’s to the benefit of the club. You winning Manager of The Month is great but, in my eyes, you’d win it most months….. when we’re winning!!

I think 2023 will be an easier year for the club and one that will see us regaining our momentum.
