Cefn Druids Foundation Matchday 2 Report

On Sunday the 29th, away from Penybont, there was more action from the Druids as our Foundation Phase travelled to Bala Town for their second weekend of matches. It was another great day of fixtures for both clubs and it was clear to see the enjoyment in the lads to be getting back playing the game they love in a safe environment.
Onto the U8s, who produced some fantastic football during periods of their games. It was great to see improvement already after only 1 week since their previous fixtures. The lads were pressing the ball high up the pitch and working hard as a group, all with a smile on everyone’s face. Special mention to Jac Davies and Dom French for helping out their team by playing in goal with Jac awarded player of the match. Theo Thomas earned player of the match for his team after a scoring his first hattrick for the club and 5 goals! Congratulations Theo and everyone involved.
The U9s, getting used to playing 5 a side again, worked tirelessly for each other throughout the game with a lot of great passages of play and chances created. Druids player of the match went to Harry ‘the wall’ Bygrave, who pulled off a string of fine saves while also being instrumental in starting attacks for Druids with his superb distribution from the back. Luca Roberts was also nominated as player of the match by his team after a fabulous performance.
The U10s showed great signs of development, as they adapted to different patterns of play and individual movements on the pitch. Their work in training clearly translated into the game as they created an abundance of chances and on another day would have had more success. The boys never gave up though and worked tirelessly the whole game, showing great commitment. Olly Edwards and Lucas Braisdell put in outstanding performances and the whole team can be proud of themselves.
Finally, the U11s produced an excellent performance as they too implemented their practice on shape and positional play into the game. A congratulations must also go to the foundation coaches as their methods have clearly gotten through to the players who are improving week on week. This was perfectly on show when the U11s finished off a 15 pass move from defence all the way up the pitch in a fantastic team goal. Well done to everyone involved for a fantastic game.
We’d like to thank Bala Town for their hospitality in what was a great day for both clubs. We look forward to seeing them again and for our next round of fixtures.
