Academy Fixtures Report – 26/02/22

Last weekend our academy sides came up against Airbus FC Academy. Some more great performances and development was on show for all to see. Our full report below.

U9s

It was really impressive to see our U9s take on all the information by the coaches this Saturday, changing to a new formation and adapting to it really well. What had been practiced in training throughout the week was on show for all to see and the lads were playing some great football. A few notable performances from our U9s teams. Alfie and Seb were both outstanding for their sides, both scoring some great goals and showing a brilliant work rate throughout the game.

U10s

A very solid overall team performance again from our U10s. In possession is an area we are looking to develop but the lads are adapting really well to the academy requirements and how the coaches are wanting them to play. Well done to the entire squad with special mention to Man of the Matches Louie Hammond and Leo Killick.

U11s

The most impressive part of the 11s performances was their togetherness and teamwork. The lads were playing some great team football, passing it around confidently and getting everyone on the ball. We were threatening going forward and everyone stuck to their roles and responsibilities really well. MOMs go to Ethan Morris for a very organised performance at the back and Rhys Purnell for scoring two very well taken goals. Well in lads!

U12s

The 12s continue to go from strength to strength and put on another impressive performance against Airbus on Saturday! Defending from the front and as a midfield unit had been worked on in training throughout the week which paid off, as the lads put it in to practice brilliantly. Our high press continued to overwhelm the opposition until the end. MOM goes to Kai Crofts, solid as usual at the back and played some dangerous balls forward, one of which resulting in him scoring. Special mention must also go to Jack Jenkinson for an outstanding hattrick!

U13s

With low numbers on the day, the lads showed a great attitude to kick on and put on a consistent, professional performance. Everyone did their jobs fantastically well and were hardworking and disciplined in defence. MOMs go to Toby Wynne and Jack Griffiths for some excellent individual work and effort.

U15s

A competitive match for our 15s on the weekend against quality opposition. The lads showed great teamwork throughout and stuck to their roles and responsibilities really well. There was some impressive attacking play and goals, as well as solid defensive work from the lads. This was shown consistently by MOM Asthon Valentine. A great performance at full back, Ashton never got beat 1v1 and showed positive aggression to win the ball back for the team. Well in lads!

U19s

Another professional performance from our 19s who are consistently showing development and learning from the coaches. What is being worked on in training is beginning to come out in games more and more which is great to see. MOM was Terell Nash who kept creating opportunities for the team up front. He beat his man 1v1 on every occasion and capped off a fine performance with 2 goals. Well done Terell and to the whole team!

EDS

Our EDS also had a tough match on Sunday against a quality Airbus side. However, the lads put in another excellent performance and continue to push their way up the table. It was great to see us being clinical with the chances we created and playing some impressive possession based football. The EDS capped off a great weekend of football for our academy sides. MOM went to Iwan Hardy who put on a dominant individual performance in the middle of the park. He kept it simple in possession, rarely losing the ball and was aggressive off it, to win it back for the team. Well done to all involved.

Overall, another great roundup of fixtures for our academy sides over the weekend. It is great to see the lads improving week on week and we look forward to giving our fans and followers more updates on their upcoming matches!

More than just a football club.
