This evening, Druids travel to Park Avenue to face The Seasiders for the third time this month as we enter the latter half of Phase 2.
We last played Aber only a week ago in a disappointing 3-0 loss at The Rock. The Seasiders come into this game after an agonizing 1-1 draw to Cardiff Met last Friday where The Students equalised in the 93rd minute. Aber will be looking to rectify that result and get back to winning ways at home tonight.
Druids are coming off a 5-0 loss at Newtown on Saturday where we couldn’t find an answer for The Robin’s pressure and quality and were forced to finish the game with 10 men, after Iwan Cartwright was shown a straight red. The main positive coming out of the game was academy prospects Max Pritchard and Brad Knight getting more minutes in the Cymru Premier. They both put in a good account of themselves when they got their chance. As the season is coming to a close, the coaching team may decide to rotate things further and give more of our academy players a chance in the league, again showing the opportunities available to the younger players at the club.
Our last match at The Rock against The Seasiders was an entertaining, end-to-end affair for long periods. Both sides creating a number of opportunities with Aber being the more clinical. We could be in for another exciting game tonight at Park Avenue, and hopefully we make the most of the opportunities we do create.
Some team news for Druids; Iwan Cartwright will begin his suspension tonight following his sending off on Saturday. Ethan Cartwright and Naim Arsan are both unavailable while Aaron Simpson and Phil Mooney are doubts after picking up knocks on Saturday. However, Sam Phillips will be hoping to return to the squad after recovering from his muscle injury. There may also be opportunities for our youth players to step up in place of the absentees this evening.
Druids are eager to get back to winning ways and to put on a more promising performance after two poor results. It is another chance for players to make their mark and we are all looking forward to getting out there.
